I hit the big 4-0 last October and I wanted to enter my forties in a strong fashion. After a week of meditating on what I would do, I came up with the 40kg/40th Birthday Challenge. The rules were simple, a single 40kg (88 pound) kettebell clean and press per arm, on the minute for 40 minutes. Prior to my birthday, I had pressed the 40 for a max of 3x5. It was daunting at the start but I went to work.
I don't fear age. It is truly a state of mind and one can train their body to match the mindset. This challenge is not something I would have been able to do in my teens, twenties or the majority of my thirties.
Now go set up your own challenge and start training.
